Frequently Asked Questions

Brush Removal:

In addition to regularly scheduled “Brush Pick-Up Days” in the spring and fall, the Township will remove brush following brush removal policy adopted at the regular township meeting on August 1, 1990. The township will assist home owners and tenants with the removal of brush under the following conditions:

  • The brush was created as the result of abnormal weather created as an act of God.
  • The brush is no larger than three (3) inches in diameter.
  • The brush is no longer than six (6) feet in length.
  • The brush is place on the right of way within five (5) calendar days of the act of God which created the problem.

Individuals wishing to have brush removed must call the Township Office (339-1492) to arrange a pick-up time.

Dead animals:

The Township staff will remove dead animals from the roadways if they are Township Roads. Some roads are maintained by the County, others by the State. Call the Township Office to give the location of the animal.

House number signs:

Concord Township sells the green house number signs with the white numbers. The single side plates are $6.00 each and the double side plates are $9.00 each. The numbers are provided at no additional charge. These signs are highly visible to emergency service vehicles (fire, Sheriff, ambulance) and are very reflective in the dark.

Leaf Pick-Up:

Leaves should be raked one foot away from the gutter onto the street to allow drainage in the gutter. For streets without curbs, leaves must be as close to the road as possible. Please do not rake leaves around mail boxes, trees, etc. Vehicles should be removed from the streets on collection dates. Foreign objects and limbs must be kept out of the leaves. Township residents who do not live along the planned routes or in a less populated area can request leaf pick up by calling 339-1492. See schedule on the right for more details.

Outdoor Burning:

Recreational fires cannot be larger than a 4’ by 4’ circle. The flames must be less than 4’ high and the fire must be attended at all times. Fires to burn brush or trash are prohibited. Reports of illegal fires can be made to 9-1-1 or to the non-emergency number at the Miami County Communications Center which is 339-6400.

Overgrown yards, tall grass, and noxious weeds:

The Township can mow down areas of overgrown grass and noxious weeds. Residents must contact the Township office in writing to report such a situation. The Township sends the land owner a letter giving them five days to correct the situation. If the land owner does not comply, the Township staff will take the necessary equipment to mow the area and the charges of $100.00 per hour will be added to the real estate taxes on the property.

Planning & Zoning:

Many questions come in regarding fences, junk cars, construction of outbuildings, and other similar issues. Concord Township has its zoning done by the Miami County Planning & Zoning Department. The number there is 440-8111. If you want to ask about a situation to see if it falls under Planning & Zoning, please call the Township Office.

Run down houses and buildings:

Dilapidated houses and other buildings pose a threat to public health, so complaints are handled by the Miami County Health District. Their telephone number is 440-5500.

Sewer and Water:

Concord Township has been very active in working with the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department to supply sewer and water to residents who need and want it. For general questions, call the Sanitary Engineering Department at 440-5654.

Solid Waste and Recycling:

The Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department also takes care of solid waste and recycling. In addition to their regular services, they hold periodic “Household Hazardous Waste Days” for a nominal fee. Please call 440-3488 for more information.

NOTICE

MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSE

Residents of the unincorporated sections of Concord Township do not have to pay an additional $10.00 per vehicle registration which the City of Troy residents must pay toward the construction of the new Adams Street Bridge. To avoid this additional fee, make sure the 'Owner's Residence-Taxing District' box on your registration or renewal form is 5567 when you renew your license. DON'T PAY $10.00 MORE THAN YOU OWE.

There is another benefit to making sure your taxing district is correct. Concord Township will be eligible to collect all the motor vehicle license fees that are due. Those taxes pay for the services that the Township provides to our residents.

A list of Township roads is posted on this web site. If you are unsure or have any questions, please call the Township Building at 339-1492 and someone will return your call
